Ella is doing fine after her surgery. She was happy to go home and was able to walk to the car. We were told to have her rest and not play too much. If you have meet Ella Pom Pom you can understand how hard those instructions are to enforce. We are trying but she is so playful it is really a challenge. I thought we were doing a good job and she seemed to be feeling better but her incision looks like it is opening a little. I am going to take her to the Vet on Monday but she moves around ok and seems happy so I am not too worried.
Manny is also doing good but a little bothered about how spoiled Ella has been this weekend. Other than that he is healthy and happy. He is defiantly the low maintenance dog of the house.

Ella is doing great. The vet gave her a cone so she wouldn’t lick too much and everything is healing nicely. It was too funny seeing her with the cone on. We still have to limit her running but she would be going at full speed if we let her.
I started working with Kelly last summer and it turns out she is not only fun to work with but she is also a great friend. Last month she came to our old house with her son Layne. He really likes animals and wanted to play with Ella Pom Pom.They were so cute playing together I had to take a video. In case you wonder about the strange noise in the back round it is Ella’s Halloween toy.
Today, Ella Pom Pom is going under the knife to get spayed. This became necessary after a week of Manny attempting to hump any part of Ella he could get near (poor boy is a little confused without his balls I think). Anyway, it is difficult to take her to the vet and subject her to the pain, but it is better for her in the long run.

Poor Little Ella Pom Pom
We dropped her off at 8:30 this morning and we will pick her up at 5:30. I hope she is doing ok and isn’t too scared. This was the one of the hardest things I have ever done. It was easier for me to have surgery than it was to send my perfect princess dog to go under the knife. I am really worried about her even though I know dogs have this procedure done all the time. I was undecided about getting her fixed because Manny is already fixed and it didn’t seem like she would need to be. But her “condition” has made life difficult during the last few weeks. Not only is poor confused Manny following her around day and night but going to the dog park is a mess. There is a big park close to the house that the community has decided is going to be a dog park and I like to take them there sometimes after work. Well, the boys there know when Ella is (umm you know) ready and follow her around trying to make puppies. Being at the dog park lately has also brought out the aggressive side in Manny. As most of you know he is a big chicken and is always nice and gentle. But not at the park when he is defending his woman! Every time a male dog came over and started to check Ella out Manny would start to growl and the hair on his back would stand up. We left the park but it was really funny to see Mean Manny the Man Dog!

I just had to make a quick mention of a friend that I greatly miss. Spencer was rescued from the pound in 1995 and had been by my side ever sense. Over a 13 year period friends, jobs and towns all came and went, but Spencer was always a part of my life. In late March he passed away. I miss you Spencer and I hope you feel better now that you have left your old, tired body.
